Position Sizing and Risk: The Beginner's Shield
Profits come from being right at the right size; survival comes from being wrong at the wrong size. Risk management basics that outrank every strategy.

Every losing streak that ends a trading career was a position-sizing mistake before it was an analysis mistake. Managing risk is not the boring part of trading — it is the part that lets you stay to win next week.
The 1% Rule
Risk no more than about 1% of your account on any single position — the loss if your stop is hit should be roughly 1%, defined in advance. This keeps a string of six losses to a survivable ~6%, letting probability do its job. Trading is a distribution; sizing is how you survive the drawdowns in the distribution.
Size From the Stop, Never From Hope
Position size = the amount you are willing to lose, divided by the distance from entry to stop. A wide stop means a small size; a tight stop allows more. Run the arithmetic on TradingView where levels are precise, and record each result in the trading journal.
Stops Are a Contract, Not a Suggestion
Once the stop is placed, it is honoured — moving it 'just this once' is how single losses become account-size ones. Journal every violation to see the pattern clearly. Risk management is the whole method: it converts gambling into sampling from an edge.

Final Thoughts
Risk management is the beginner's shield: the 1% rule, sizing from the stop, and stops treated as contracts. Practise it on paper first, and let discipline — not prediction — be the strategy.
